About MATVEY DMITRIEV
I am a senior at the Academy of American Studies in Queens, and most of what I build starts as something that annoyed me. The trading tools I could find would show me numbers but never the reasoning behind them, so I began writing my own: a desktop widget that scores which parts of the market are actually leading, a calendar that replays my own decisions back to me, and a bot that tests an idea before I put anything behind it. What I care about now is the overlap between software, AI and data analysis — the point where a pile of raw information turns into something a person can actually read.

WHO ISBEHIND IT
I started writing code because the software I was using would not answer the question I actually had. I trade a little, and every brokerage tool I tried could tell me what happened without ever showing me why — no sense of which parts of the market were leading, no honest record of my own decisions. So I started building the versions I wanted: first a calendar that reconstructs my trading history so I can look at my own patterns, then a widget that scores relative strength across assets in real time, then a paper-trading bot so an idea has to survive a test before it costs anything.
Last summer I interned at Cowan Consulting, working on company websites and writing Python and Java alongside their team — my first experience of building software that other people depended on rather than just me. I also wait tables at Da Mikelle Illagio, which has taught me more about working under pressure than any project has. I am looking for internships and for people to build things with.
